Thank you Mynoise.net

I am using mynoise.net right now, specifically Thunder & Rain, to block out the sounds around me. This is a fantastic noise generator for so many reasons. I discovered it during covid times and have been using it ever since. If you are as picky about background noises as I am, you’ll understand what I mean.

Real sounds from nature! No staticky sounding mush from your speakers. These are live recordings mixed and layered together.

No Loop! You never hear the moment the recording resets, there is no gap and no repetition in the audio, unless you pick something that has specific repeated sound intentionally.

Something for everyone! If you like repetitive sound, or something with voices or music, those are available too. And there is a “meditation bell” or something, and a timer. All the things, people.

You can turn off the sounds you dislike! If something has birds twittering or crickets I find it annoying and distracting. Mynoise has the different sounds on little sliders so that you can turn down or totally mute the sounds you don’t like.

You can really customize or randomize the sound! The sliders let you turn elements up and down, but there are pre-sets for different “colours” of noise at different decibels. Then there is the random setting where the program gradually moves the sliders for you to create an ever shifting landscape of noise. Or go really crazy and open 2 different generators in different tabs, I like to mix medieval library with rain sounds, so great!

Youtube for on the go! The site does not play with other tabs open on mobile, and shuts off when the browser is closed. As an easy option, the youtube channel has some great mixes from the site set for long playtimes without ads. You cannot customize it the same, but they are still fantastic.

But don’t read about it all here, just check out the site already!
